Where Was the Skateboard Invented: A Brief History of the Origin of Skateboarding
The skateboard was invented in the United States, specifically in California, in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Surfers in the area were looking for a way to mimic the feeling of riding waves on land, and began to attach wheels to wooden planks to create a new type of transportation and sport. The first commercial skateboard was created in 1959 in Anaheim, California.
