How to Successfully Jump a Hardtail Mountain Bike
To jump a hardtail mountain bike, start by gaining speed and then focus on having a balanced body position with your weight centered over the bike. As you approach the jump, shift your weight slightly back to preload the suspension. As you reach the lip of the jump, explode upwards and forwards, using your arms and legs to push the bike up and off the jump. While in the air, keep your body position balanced and level. Upon landing, absorb the shock by bending your knees and elbows, and immediately regain control of your bike. Practice with smaller jumps before attempting larger ones.
