How to Effectively Use a Shifter on Your Mountain Bike
To use the shifter on a mountain bike, start pedaling and shift up or down depending on the terrain. Push the lever on the right side of the handlebar to shift to a higher gear for flat or downhill sections, and push the lever on the left side to shift to a lower gear for climbing. It’s important to shift smoothly and avoid cross-chaining by using the front and rear derailleurs together. Practice shifting in different conditions to get comfortable with the bike’s gears and find the optimal riding position for each situation.
