How to Shift Gears on a Hybrid Bike: A Beginner’s Guide
Shifting gears on a hybrid bike is done by using the shift levers on the handlebars. The left shifter controls the front derailleur which shifts the chain between the chainrings, while the right shifter controls the rear derailleur which shifts the chain across the cassette. To shift into a higher gear, push the levers away from you and to shift into a lower gear, pull the levers towards you. It’s important to shift smoothly while pedaling lightly to avoid stressing the chain or gears.
